The Mashantucket Pequot tribe could extend their reservation to include virtually all of southeastern Connecticut. The statement sounds so improbable it's hard to take seriously. But Attorney General Richard Blumenthal does. And the rest of the state should, too. Because that's exactly what the U.S. 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals concluded Sept. 25 after reviewing the Mashantucket Pequot Indian Claims Settlement Act, the law Congress passed in 1983 to grant the tribe federal recognition.
